braiding process
Yarns & Fibers
cmi only uses surface yarns that meet our highest standards. We never use odd lot or unknown fibers in order to control the quality of the yarns and their ability to accept dyes. Fibers used include cotton, nylon, polypropylene, wool, acrylic, and polyester.
Fabrics
Our fabric rugs and accessories are made from first quality, U.S.A. made fabrics to ensure consistency in color and quality.
Dyes
The color consistency of cmi products is superior to the industry standard because of our internal controls with respect to dye formulation. Any variances are well within acceptable limits.
Braiding Methods
cmi uses three styles of braiding including: 1) flat braid, the classic method of intertwining three ropes of fabric and/or yarn, 2) cable braid or , a braid that resembles classic sailing rope, and 3) corded braid, a method of stitching the rope into the desired shape. Rugs are created using either a vertical or a horizontal braiding construction.
Thread
We use Clearlon(R) a high-quality clear monofilament thread that exceeds industry standards and offers exceptional durability and strength.
Origins
All cmi braided-texture area rugs and accessories are proudly manufactured in the U.S.A., in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
